The Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Al-Khafaji, discussed with President of the General Federation of Farmers Ahmed Saleh Ibrahim the reality of agricultural cooperation between Syria and Iraq and ways to develop it to serve the people of the two brotherly countries.
The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement today: “The Minister Al-Khafaji stressed the strengthening of joint cooperation between the two countries to serve the development of the agricultural sector and the exchange of agricultural products. He pointed out that the Iraqi market is open to the products of all countries of the world, including Syria.”
Al-Khafaji stressed the necessity of benefiting from the Syrian scientific and agricultural expertise, underlining the importance of establishing a commercial marketing association by the private sector in coordination with the agricultural associations of both countries, whose benefit will be reflected on farmers, traders and consumers.
In turn, Minister Ibrahim stressed the importance of expanding the horizons of joint cooperation that serves the development of joint bilateral relations in agricultural and livestock fields.
Ibrahim pointed to Syria’s readiness to strengthen relations and cooperation in this field and its interest in facilitating the necessary procedures to serve agricultural activity and trade exchange between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by the Syrian ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jada’an Al-Dandah.
