Baghdad (ST): The Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Awn Diyab Abdullah, and the Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad, Satam Jadaan Al-Dandah, discussed prospects for developing joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of water and water resources.
In a statement to news reporter in Baghdad, Ambassador Al-Dandah indicated that the meeting focused on the importance of historical relations and fraternal ties between the two countries, and the need to work on developing them to serve security, stability and the interests of the two peoples.
Al-Dandah indicated that the two sides discussed prospects for joint cooperation in the field of water and water resources, in a way that serves the common interests of both countries, and unified positions to face the challenges of water shortage, especially after the countries of the region were exposed to a wave of drought for consecutive years and the irrigation facilities were damaged, as a result of the terrorist organizations’ attacks on them, especially ISIS terrorists.
For his part, Abdullah stressed the need to unify visions and continue working together in order to improve the irrigation reality in the two countries, hold seminars and workshops, develop water resources staff in the two countries, and continue exchanging visits at the ministerial and technical levels.
