Syrian-Iraqi Business Forum kicks off on December 12 in Damascus

DAMASCUS, DEC.8, (ST)-The Syrian-Iraqi Business Forum will be held between 12 and 15 December at the Palace of Conferences in Damascus with the participation of food, textile, chemical, engineering, medical, electricity, financial and shipping sectors.    
 
Director of the International Group of Businessmen and women Rojeh Obied told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the joint cooperation relations and the future opportunities of economic cooperation between Syria and Iraq require further work and exchanging visits with the aim of enhancing these relations and launching initiatives and partnerships.  
 
For his part, Director General of Investment Commission Madian Dyab referred to the importance of the forum to shed light on the available investment opportunities and the Investment Law No. 18 for the year 2021 as the current stage necessitates strengthening economic cooperation with countries in all fields including reconstruction process.   
 
Chairman of Contractors Union in Syria Ayman Malandi said that the forum reflects the key role  of private sector in economic development and enhancing cooperation between contractors in Syria and Iraq. 
 
For his part, Chairman of Arab and Iraqi Contractors Unions Fakher Al-Sanafi asserted that the forum aims to enhance joint cooperation between representatives of private sector in the two countries, remove challenges that face the development of relations and draw up plans for economic recovery in the countries that had been affected by terrorism and wars. 
 
“There are serious steps to take part in rebuilding Syria during the coming stage,” Al-Sanafi said. 
 
Director of the Chamber of Agriculture in Damascus and its countryside Bashar Al-Malek said that the Iraqi market it important to contain the surplus of Syrian products.
