Damascus, (ST) – Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF)recently signed with the Iraqi General Federation of Peasants Associations a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the flow of goods and agricultural food between Syria and Iraq, including the support of the export process, organizing the business work and finding outlets for marketing Syrian product.
Under the agreement, the two sides will exchange the agricultural calendar approved in both countries to provide each other with quantities of the proposed request of the other country’s products according to the available for export in the two countries within the agricultural calendar so they do not form any burden on the markets and to meet their needs and send lists of specific orders to help marketing in Syria and Iraq.
In a statement to reporters,Head of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammed al -Sawah confirmed that the agreement contributes to the development of mechanisms that gives the added value of the business between the two countries, pointing out that the agreement helps to establish agriculture and food centers between the Syrian and Iraqi provinces, as well as the establishment of a joint company between the Syrian Exporters’ Federation, the Federation of Syrian Peasants and the General Federation of Iraqi Peasants Associations for the marketing of goods.
Mr. al -Sawah confirmed that the Iraqi market for Syria is a key market and vice versa, and there is a common desire among the parties to achieve a broader promotion of agricultural products in the two countries, pointing out that the implementation of the agreement will begin so on in order to activate the work of the joint committees.
Head of the Iraqi General Federation of Peasants Associations,Hassan Nassif al Tamimi, said in a similar statement that the agreement “will return the wheel of export to normal between the two countries and will be to the benefit of peasants in both countries, reduce the suffering of farmers in Syria and Iraq and strengthen joint Arab cooperation”.
Mr. al Tamimi pointed out the importance of increasing trade exchange between the two countries by land being “safer and faster than other methods, and the two sides are working to remove all difficulties and obstacle that hinder the smooth flow of Syrian goods to Iraq.”
