DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Tourism Minister Bisher Yazigi discussed yesterday with economic advisor at the Iranian embassy in Damascus Ali Kazmi, ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, especially religious and medical tourism, as a further step of cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting addressed several topics on tourism cooperation as a foundation stone for economic support between Syria and Iran, and the two sides stressed the need to reach a common understanding to boost cooperation relations between private tourism companies in the two countries.
The minister stressed the role of media in promoting joint investments and tourism projects, and the two sides expressed the desire to organize exhibitions and business, and economic events and consolidate relations between Syrian and Iranian traders.
They also discussed exchanging students and scholarships between the two countries in the framework of the tourism sector and talks focused on the Iranian efforts to attract Syrian students to study in various specializations especially, tourism.
Minister Yazigi pointed that the Tourism Investment Market Forum will be held in August as a gesture to the convergence of bilateral investment companies.
Very often, Syrian and Iranian sides held meetings during which economic and trade cooperation relations were discussed.
In June, a government delegation visited Tehran and discussed new mechanisms for the implementation of economic, commercial and technical agreements between the two countries and to overcome the obstacles, hindering the implementation process.
