The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, discussed with the President of Iran’s Malik Al-Ashtar Technical University, Dr. Qassem Taqizadeh and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Ibrahim affirmed Syria’s keenness to strengthen joint scientific relations through increasing grants, holding scientific seminars and conferences, exchanging experiences, ideas and joint research.
Minister Ibrahim pointed to the importance of benefiting from the scientific and technical expertise owned by Al-Ashtar Technical University and Iranian research centers and working on transferring technology to Syrian universities.
Minister Ibrahim refered to the importance of activating the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides, putting them into effect and expanding them to achieve mutual benefit, in addition to establishing scientific research laboratories and exchanging short visits between researchers for joint scientific supervision of research.
For his part, Taqizadeh praised the distinguished relations between the two countries and the various scientific, cultural and research cooperation programs, stressing his country’s readiness to provide more in this field.
Taqizadeh gave a presentation on the development that Iran has reached in the fields of artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, the environment, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, satellites and military technologies, achieving self-sufficiency and covering its local needs.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Latif Hanano, Dr. FadiaDeeb, and the Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban.
