Syrian-Iranian talks to enhance prospects for cooperation in the fields of reconstruction

The Minister of Public Works and Housing Eng. Suhail Abd al-Latif discussed with the Deputy Minister of Defense of Iran and Head of the Social Insurance Organization of the Iranian Armed Forces Dr. Ibrahim Mahmoud Zadeh prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of rebuilding and construction.

During the meeting, it was agreed to develop practical visions regarding Iran’s contribution with residential projects “social and youth housing” and real estate development projects in Syria.

 

In a statement to reporters, Eng. Abd al-Latif confirmed that the possibility of cooperation in establishing social, investment and real estate projects has been studied, as the delegation will conduct technical discussions with the concerned parties in the Real Estate Development and Investment Authority and the General Housing Corporation.

Eng. Abd al-Latif stated that  the Iranian side’s contribution is in the implementation of social housing projects, which includes 8,000 apartment.

The Iranian Deputy Defense Minister affirmed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Syria in various fields and sectors, relying on new capabilities and technologies that contribute to the completion of the reconstruction process with high quality, maximum speed and lower cost.

He indicated the importance of supporting the Syrian state and cooperating with the public and private sectors to implement projects, pointing out that the work will start in the city of Damascus and will then expand to other governorates.

The two sides had signed a memorandum of understanding at the end of 2019 and an executive program for this memorandum was drawn up, but the implementation was postponed due to the Coronavirus.
