Syrian-Iranian talks to enhance cooperation in environment and natural resources fields

Tehran, SANA- Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Shafiq Dayoub, discussed with head of the international affairs and conventions office of the Iranian Department of Environment, Hossein Mousavifa , ways to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries in the field of environment, natural resource management and climate change.

Ambassador Dayoub said that the environment, drought and the management of natural water and forest resources pose a big challenge to the region and require collective efforts to address it and develop appropriate and scientific solutions to reduce its negative effects, pointing to the possibility of updating the agreement signed between Syria and Iran in 2006 in environment field.

For his part, The Iranian official affirmed his country’s willingness to establish fruitful and constructive cooperation with Syria in all fields, especially the environmental one.

He added that the environmental system requires comprehensive and serious cooperation to avoid the existing and potential risks of climate change.
