Syrian-Iranian talks to develop agricultural cooperation and secure production requirements

On August 28th, the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Qatnamet with the Executive Director of the Syrian-Iranian People’s Friendship Association, Dr. Hassan Chakhsi, and the President of the Syrian-Iranian Economic Commission, Ahmed Dasmalji, and the accompanying delegation

The two sides discussed possible aspects of cooperation in the field of agriculture and securing production requirements.

Minister Qatana indicated that the conditions of war and climatic changes led to a decline in the areas planted with some crops and to the need to import production requirements such as fertilizers, feed, pesticides and energy sources, in addition to modern agricultural machinery

Minister Qatana pointed out to the importance of cooperation with the Iranian side to secure these needs or part of them and the importance of developing cooperation in the field of livestock, agricultural mechanization, protected greenhouses, the hydroponic system

For his part, Dr. Hassan Chakhsi expressed the association’s readiness to work on developing agricultural cooperation with the Syrian side after developing the appropriate technical formulas and agreeing on the work mechanism

, Dr. Hassan Chakhsi referred to the need to continue consultation and meeting with stakeholders and specialists in Syria to determine the required specifications.

The meeting was attended by AssistantsMinister Dr. Fayez Al-Miqdad, Dr. Rami Al-Ali, Director of the Cooperative Agricultural Bank, Director of Planning and International Cooperation in the Ministry, and Director of Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade.
