Syrian-Iranian talks to activate trade exchange and industrial and agricultural cooperation

On April 24th, the Board of Directors of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce discussed with the head of the Office for the Development of Economic Relations between Syria and Iran ways to activate trade exchange and cooperation in the industrial, agricultural, health, pharmaceutical and tourism fields

The two sides also discussed joint investments and logistical services between the two countries. 

 

During the meeting, Chamber President Fahd Darwish stressed the need to make all possible efforts to boost economic relations between the two countries to higher levels

Darwish indicated that the Chamber’s work is focused on addressing the difficulties facing the issues of financial transfer and shipping

Darwish explained that the Chamber is working to set up a number of exhibitions for the sale of Syrian products in a number of Iranian provinces in parallel with the establishment of economic forums for businessmen and economic activities

In turn, the head of the Office for the Development of Economic Relations between Syria and Iran, Abbas Akbari, affirmed that the committee is working to provide possible support for the work of the joint chamber of commerce and in cooperation with the governments of the two countries

Akbari pointed to the Chamber’s role in raising issues of economic cooperation that countries need, especially the aspect related to networking between economic activities

Akbari called on the Chamber’s councils to form joint sectoral working committees to explore the prospects of current economic cooperation and present its view on addressing urgent difficulties such as procedural and legal issues and import and export decisions.

During the meeting, a number of proposals and recommendations were presented in the field of e-commerce, tourism and joint investments between the two sides in industrial cities and free zones, and to benefit from Iran’s experience in the digital economy.

It is noteworthy that a Syrian economic delegation comprising heads and members of chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture, and the joint Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce will visit Iran soon.
