DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Prime Minister Dr. Wael Halaqi has discussed with Iran ‘s First Vice President Isaac Jhankiri ways to overcome obstacles hindering the flow of Iranian goods into the Syrian market especially during the holy month of Ramadan and means to secure all the requirements of the steadfastness of the Syrian people , especially foodstuffs items , consumer products and oil derivatives.
This came during a telephone al-Halaqi made yesterday evening with the Iranian First Vice President , during which they exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and discussed cooperation in the fields of electric power, health, water and credit line activation .
Talks also dealt with developing economic and trade relations between the two countries and upgrading them to the level of the deeply -rooted political and strategic ties, set by late President Hafez al-Assad and Imam Khomeini , relations which have been continuously enhanced and evolved under the wise leadership of the commander of the Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei and Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Hassan Rohani.
The Prime Minister thanked Iran ‘s leadership and people for supporting the Syrian people in their challenge of the barbarism of the global war , and in providing all means of support enabling Syria to achieve victory, stressing that the Syrian people will always appreciate support given to them especially from Iran.
The Prime minister renewed his call for the Iranian companies to participate in development projects and in the process of rebuilding and reconstruction of Syria, stressing that Syria and Iran stand in the same trench to confront terrorism and obscurantist ideologies and are keen to restore security and stability to the region.
For his part, Jhankiri expressed best wishes for the Syrian people and leadership to maintain security, and stability and hailed the great success of the presidential election won by President Bashar al-Assad for a new constitutional term, stressing Iran ‘s care to secure the Syrian people ‘s elements of steadfastness against terrorism and the unjust they are experiencing .
