Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee: A New Phase of Economic Cooperation to Start Soon
Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance, Dege Bessende, stressed the need to strengthen and upgrade the Syrian-Iranian economic relations.
“The promotion of economic relations between the two countries necessitates the expansion of cooperation in the field of banking relations between the two countries,” Mr. Bessende said during a meeting with the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee. “The export of Iranian goods and goods would play a pivotal role in the reconstruction of Syria.
As for the domain of joint investment in Syria, Mr. Bessende said: “Several agreements have been signed in this area and we have to implement them.” He expressed the hope that the agreement, which was formulated during the visit of Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, to Syria, will be signed the two countries.
He confirmed the need for more cooperation, especially with the presence of unilateral measures imposed on the two countries and to address these measures, saying: “We have made a great effort to eliminate terrorism and we can cooperate more in reconstruction and equip all the government and private possibilities. “
Mr. Bessende pointed out that these meetings should continue between the two countries to be a historical symbol among the peoples of brotherhood.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Ragheb Al-Hussein, Vice-Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, affirmed the need to elevate the economic relations between the two countries to the level of political and strategic relations. He pointed out that it requires a package of policies, procedures and tools, some of which were discussed during the visit of the Syrian economic delegation to Iran shortly before.
Syria’s Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud said that the unilateral economic measures against Syria and Iran are an opportunity to enhance the capabilities and economic development of the two countries. He pointed out that the Syrian government has given priority to its program of economic cooperation and partnership in the reconstruction phase and in all production sectors.
He stressed the importance of activating the file of banking cooperation between the two countries as an important key to economic cooperation in addition to the establishment of branches of banks between the two countries, expressing the hope that this visit is an incentive to push the steps of bilateral economic cooperation.
The Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee discussed ways to activate and strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries in all fields of bilateral political, economic and trade cooperation.
The Vice-Chairman of the Committee of the Iranian side Ahmed Salik confirmed the Iran’s continuous support for Syria at various levels, noting at the same time the importance of agreements signed by the Syrian and Iranian sides in the cultural, scientific, economic and trade.
Mr. Salik pointed out the importance of establishing a joint chamber of commerce to develop economic relations between the two countries and forming a general secretariat for the Syrian-Iranian parliament in order to follow issues related to the work of parliamentarians and their aspirations.
For his part, Mr. al-Hussein stressed the need to strengthen the bilateral dialogue between the Syrian People’s Assembly and the Iranian Islamic Consultative Council in the context of the positive and constructive relations that bring together the two countries in addition to forming a Syrian-Iranian parliamentary chamber for direct and periodic communication.
He also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation on reconstruction and development projects and the activation of meetings and cultural and scientific dialogues, pointing to the need to join the Swift Russian financial and banking transactions system in order to avoid the American hegemony on funding.
For his part, Mr. Mahmoud underlined the importance of translating the strategic relations between Syria and Iran as a practical reality that touches on the results of the two peoples in the two countries and strengthening capacities in the face of pressures and unjust sanctions, pointing out that the Iranian Islamic Consultative Council has been in the first line of defense for the Syrian people in its war against terrorism and thwarting the Takfiri terrorist plan and its supporters.
he said that a new phase of economic cooperation between Syria and Iran will start soon, pointing out that the executive framework of the joint chambers of commerce agreement was signed to increase the areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The Syrian-Iranian Friendship Association, the National Security Committees, the Foreign and Arab Affairs and the Foreigners of the People’s Assembly discussed in May with the Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly in Iran Alaaeddin Boroujerdi and the accompanying delegation ways to strengthen and develop the parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries.
