TEHRAN, (ST) – Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis recently discussed in Tehran with Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Jet Jian and Directors of Iranian Companies operating in Syria ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries especially in the field of electricity sector and its requirements to supply spare parts, maintenance and necessary equipment to networks of electricity, materials necessary for power plants, contracts carried out by Iranian companies and financing some of the contracts signed with the Iranian companies through the credit line between Syria and Iran.
The two sides stressed, during the meeting, a firm determination on the continuation of work, cooperation and development in various aspects of the electricity sector and make strenuous efforts to remove all obstacles and routine work that obstruct the march of Iranian companies in Syria and to find a new future cooperation, particularly in the area of electricity transmission and distribution.
“A mechanism and steps for future cooperation in the electricity sector with the Iranian side were set up and old contracts with some Iranian companies have been completed,” Mr. Khamis pointed out.
For his part, Iranian Energy Minister renewed his country’s support for Syria, especially in the electricity sector and said “We support the Iranian companies operating in Syria and we will work to remove obstacles in the implementation of projects in order to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian and Iranian peoples.”
Eng. Khamis discussed with Directors of Iranian companies operating in Syria the reality of work in Syria and ways to develop and support bilateral cooperation in this field and the mechanism of Iranian companies to continue their work in various technical and technological sectors.
He called various Iranian companies to work and invest in Syria under the “direction of the Syrian government and priority is given to the Iranian companies” to contribute to projects in Syria and in the light of the strategy and the facilities provided and approved by the Ministry of Electricity in this field.
The Minister of Electricity was briefed by directors of Iranian companies on the progress of work and projects carried out in Syria and the obstacles that hinder the continuation of their work, stressing the work strenuously to remove all the obstacles in front of it in order to serve the march of cooperation and development movement in Syria, including joint investment that enhances relations of cooperation to the benefit of the two friendly countries.
