Syrian-Iranian Economic Committee holds technical talks

DAMASCUS, Apr.25, (ST)- Today, the joint Syrian-Iranian Economic Committee held technical talks at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus to follow up on its work with the participation of representatives from both sides in the sectors of economy, trade, housing, oil, industry, electricity, transportation and insurance.

The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, who chairs the Syrian side in the Committee, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, affirmed that the committee’s work includes bilateral meetings at the level of technicians to study all projects submitted and proposed by the two sides within the framework of international cooperation, in a way that helps and supports the development of economic relations between the two countries and their upgrading to a level Strategic and political relations.

Al-Khalil indicated that these talks are a new mechanism to follow up on the work and the previous decisions adopted in various meetings to draw up a future plan that can be followed up and measured according to a specific timetable, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and peoples.

He underlined the need to avoid administrative and financial obstacles in dealing with the files and agreements that govern the two countries and other documents with the aim of speeding up the implementation of cooperation in a better way, expressing the Syrian government’s appreciation for the Iranian side and its efforts to contribute to the reconstruction.

The Iranian Minister of Roads and Cities Construction Mehrdad Bazarbash, who chairs the Iranian side in the committee, said: “The bilateral relations between Iran and Syria are at their highest political levels, and we seek to be high in all fields, especially the economic ones.

He indicated that good and constructive steps have been taken in this regard through forming 8 committees to discuss the files presented in the fields of banking, agriculture, industry, and matters related to transport, trade and electricity.

The Iranian minister added that It was agreed to organize a working mechanism for the meetings to push things forward, especially in the fields of economy, investment and electricity as Syrian cities are in an urgent need for them.
