Syrian, Iranian Construction Cooperation

Damascus-Minister of Public Works and Housing Hussain Arnous and Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi, who is Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Economic Committee, discussed here on Thursday prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of construction during the reconstruction phase.

Mr. Akhoundi affirmed his country’s support for Syria in various fields and its readiness to contribute to the reconstruction, development, planning of cities and organization, pointing out that Iran has sufficient expertise in the fields of constructionof roads and bridges.

 He called for consultations and proposals for the organization of random housing areas and the housing sector and infrastructure in general.

For his part, Mr. Arnous stressed the importance of cooperation between Syria and Iran in the reconstruction phase and the development of joint work in the sectors of public works, roads and housing, especially that the ministry is reviewing the organizational charts of cities and towns destroyed by terrorism.

Mr. Arnous explained that the needs of the ministry during this stage including machinery so that the executive companies will be able to complete the projects entrusted to them in the required manner.

The meeting was attended by Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud and Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Javad Turk Abadi.
