Syrian, Iranian Armies Sign MoU on Cooperation in Fight against Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria and Iran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation and coordination between the armies of two countries.

The Syrian Defense Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Saturday that the MoU was signed on Friday during a round of talks held between the Chief of Staff of the Syrian Army, Lt. Genral Ali Abdullah Ayoub and his Iranian counterpart  Maj. Gen. Mohamad Bagheri.

The ministry said that MoU provides for “enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two friendly armies in the domains of training, exchange of combat expertise as well as intelligence and technological data and the fight against terrorism and Zionist-American schemes.”

 The two sides stressed during the talks that Bagheri’s visit to Syria was successful and fruitful aiming to serve the interests of the two countries’ armies and peoples and to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
