Syrian Government’s Delegation to Moscow Consultative Meeting Presents Points on Political Settlement of Crisis
MOSCOW- Meetings of the second day of the 2nd Inter-Syrian Consultative meeting between the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and the opposition figures started in Moscow on Thursday morning.
The Syrian government delegation presented several points about the first item of the agenda which was titled “Assessing the Current Situation”.
The pointes included:
-Settling the crisis in Syria through peaceful means on the basis of the principles of Geneva conference I of June 30th, 2012.
-Urging the international community to immediately pressure the Arab, regional and international parties, particularly Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to stop their support for terrorism and to halt their training, funding, arming and sheltering of the terrorists before sending them to Syria.
3-Calling on the international Community to immediately and fully lift the siege and the economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian state.
4-The results of any political process should be based on national sovereignty and popular will.
5- Supporting and enhancing national reconciliation and backing the army in its battle against terrorism.
6- Urging the international community to help the Syrian refugees return to their homeland and working to ensure suitable environment for the return of the displaced people.
7-The principles of any political process should be based on preserving the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, on maintaining the state’s institutions and working hard to upgrade their performance, on the commitment to the liberation of the occupied Syrian lands and on launching inter-Syrian national dialogue led by Syria away from foreign interference.
8- Calling on the international community to support any agreement reached in Moscow in preparation to be adopted in Geneva Conference III.
Discussions during the first day of the consultative meeting between the two sides led to reaching common points despite the differences between the opposition figures.
Leader of the Syrian government delegation Bashar al-Jaafari has announced that the two sides exchanged views and came up with some ideas and suggestions to be tackled within the framework of the first and second items of the meeting’s agenda.
