Syrian government opens to Kurdish initiatives preserving country’s unity – Ossi

The Syrian Member of Parliament Omar Ossi has affirmed that the Syrian government is open to Kurdish initiatives within the framework of preserving the country’s unity.

He underscored the need to amend the Local administrative law in accordance with the forthcoming political reforms.

Speaking to the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper upon his departure to Geneva, Ossi clarified that most of the Kurds want self-rule while the representatives of the Syrian opposition in Riyadh delegation want a Federal rule.

U.S. approves excluding Kurds from Geneva talks

He commented on excluding the Democratic Union Party from Geneva 3 talks by saying: “it is a Saudi-Turkish-Qatari decision approved by the U.S.”

Ossi, who is the head of the Syrian Kurds National Initiative, is a member of the governmental delegation taking part in Geneva talks.

The Syrian official delegation composed of 15 members is headed by Syria’s Envoy to the U.N. Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari.

Geneva talks failed before it even started

On Thursday, Secretary General of the ‘Souria al-Watan’ party MajdNiazitold al-Watan newspaper that the Geneva talks failed before it even started.

She criticized non-participation of Syrian woman from the internal opposition in the Geneva talks as they have not received invitations.

On her part, Secretary General of the National Youth Party for Justice and Development Berwin Ibrahim underscored the need for the participation of the Syrian internal opposition in the talks being held in Geneva.
