The Syrian government, under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and the ministries of energy, finance and economy and foreign trade and industry along with the governor of the Central Bank of Syria, held a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank.
Disussions focused on the most prominent axes of the next stage in the path of technical and economic cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated through its channel on Telegram that during the meeting, ways to deal with the economic sanctions and how to reduce their effects were discussed.
The two parties discussed also the mechanisms of facilitating financial transfers, and activating the support tools directed towards recovering the Syrian economy, with a focus on the productive and strategic sectors.
It was also agreed to develop a joint road map that includes work priorities during the coming period, in preparation for the expanded meeting to be held in April, which will be a basic platform for enhancing technical cooperation and launching economic support programs for Syria.
During the meeting, the Syrian government stressed the importance of adopting a realistic approach based on respect for national sovereignty, and linking economic recovery to improving the living conditions of citizens.
Meanwhile, the World Bank delegation expressed preparation to continue coordination within the agreed frameworks.
