BANGKOK, (ST) – Majd Eddin Ghazal, the up-and –coming Syrian high jumper, has clinched the title of the high jump contest in the Asian Beach Games in Thailand.
Majd took a gold with a jump of 194 cm. A player from Kazakhstan came second with a jump of 191 cm. The third place went to a player from Qatar.
With Ghazal’s remarkable result, Syria lifted its tally of medals to seven varied medals.
The athletes who took medals were: Mohammad Ameen Salama (long jump), Maher Khayat (wrestling), Salih Mohammad (swimming-5 km& 10 km)Nadia Assaf (sambo) and Mithqal Jirmani (kwarch).
