The General Film Establishment is participating in the feature film “A Tale in Damascus”, directed by Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, in the official competition of the Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival, “Mahmoud Hamida session”, which will be held from the 5th to the 10th of next October. 14 films from 14 countries, five of them are Arab countries, will compete.
The film tells the story of Lina, a young woman living in the center of the old city of Damascus, who was raised by her grandmother, who conveyed to her through many details the warmth of nostalgia for the past and the deep love for the original place and birthplace. Lina has chosen a profession of selling gifts and handcrafted antiques in a nearby shop.
In an accurate depiction of Lina’s character, the film draws on her special psychological features. She is a quiet, dreamy girl who deals calmly with her surroundings, and even with her problems that surround her, and she does not stop dealing with tenderness with the spirits that wander in her old house and its surroundings.
The events of the film take place in our present time, but it goes back to the past through an old story and simulates the feelings of people far from elitism.
The film is produced by the General Film Establishment 2020, and it is a script and dialogue by Samah Al-Kitab. The Actors Ghassan Masoud, Lujain Ismail, Giana Aned, Rana Karam and Ghadeer Salman act in the film.
