Syrian Foreign Ministry says Bsharri incident is an individual act, urges Lebanese judiciary to prevent exploiting it politically

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called on the Lebanese judiciary to investigate and examine all circumstances around the recent regrettable incident that claimed the life of a Lebanese citizen in the Lebanese town of Bsharri and to put an end to the provocations and racial language of some Lebanese parties and figures against the Syrians.

Last week a Lebanese citizens was killed by a Syrian in Bsharri.

“The Syrian Arab Republic has followed with great interest the regrettable incident in the town of Bsharri that led to the death of  a Lebanese citizen. Syria offers condolences to the family of the victim and urges the concerned judiciary in Lebanon to play its role with full transparency to uncover all the circumstances around this case, to put an end to incitement and racial language and to prevent exploiting this individual incident against the Syrians in Lebanon,” an official source at the Ministry said on Saturday.

 The source added that the Syrian Arab Republic Syria appreciates the Lebanese parties that spoke up against the political exploitation of this incident. It calls on the Lebanese government and concerned authorities to do what is possible to prevent the exploitation of this incident in attacking the displaced Syrians in Lebanon and to carry out their duties in protecting the Syrian citizens who live in Lebanon.

The source renews Syria’s call on to the Syrian citizens,  who were forced to leave their country because of the war to return to their homeland, vowing to provide all facilitation for this return and to guarantee all requirements of decent life for the returnees.
