Syrian film won best scenario award at Oran Festival

The Syrian film ‘Waiting for Autumn’  by Jodsaed won the best scenario award at the 9thOran Arab Film Festival held in Algeria.

The film produced by the Syrian General Cinema Institute talk about a women’s volleyball team from a Syrian forgotten village aspired to win the national republic cup in search of joy and victory in a bleeding country.

The Director General of Syrian General Cinema Institute Mr. Murad Shahin gave a speech in the Oran Festival and asserted that Syrian art has attracted the attention of the people as it represents humanity, according to the official news agency (SANA).

“All creative persons, either authors, or directors, or actress, or actresses in Syria are honestly working to defend our cultural identity through films that have been shown on our silver screens and they have been awarded,” Mr. Shahin said, referring that many Syrians have been awarded in Arab and world festivals.

The film entitled film ‘Waiting for Autumn’ won the Cairo International Film Festival’s best award in 2015.

The Arab film festival of Oran was held on July 22-27 where 34 films from 14 countries competed for top awards.
