Syrian film ‘Above the Ground’ gets award at the Documentary Film Festival in India

On October 21st, the documentary Syrian film, ‘Above the Ground’, by Syrian director Sumer Afif Agha, won the Best Documentary Award in India at the Orwati International Film Festival competition.

The third award for the film comes after receiving the Special Jury Prize at the Golden Sparrow Film Festival in India and the Audience Award at the Oko International Ethnographic Film Festival in Bolgrad, Odessa region, Ukraine.

The film, ‘Above the  Ground’ has been nominated for the official competition in several festivals in Europe, which will take place next month, including the Paradise Festival in Hungary and the Bratisla International Film Festival in Slovakia.

 

The 50 minute-film, ‘Above the  Ground sheds light on  Syrian history, which is rich in the fragrant civilization and originality, through a special monological method, vision and internal analysis, like any Syrian person who sees his country after a long absence in a different way than it was before the war.

The film also includes a presentation of some of the destruction and sabotage that occurred in Syria by terrorists.
