Syrian expatriates residing in Belgium organize a Syrian cultural and social day to strengthen the bonds of connection with homeland

Brussels, (ST) – Syrian expatriates residing in Belgium and its surroundings, in coordination with the Permanent Syrian Mission to the European Union in Brussels organized a Syrian cultural and social day to strengthen the bonds of connection with the Syrian homeland.

This day, which was attended by the Head of the Syrian Permanent Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Ammar Al-Arsan, and members of the mission, began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs in Syria and Palestine, and then the Syrian national anthem was played.

In a speech during the opening of the events, Al-Arsan expressed his appreciation for the Syrian expatriate volunteers who worked to make this national, social and cultural meeting a success in Belgium.

He praised the Syrian expatriates’ adherence to their connection to their homeland; whether through their ongoing projects in Syria or those they are working to open soon.

Al-Arsan also praised the Syrian expatriates’ support for their people in Syria during the earthquake that struck the country last year.

Al-Arsan also spoke about the positive  Syrian expatriates’ response to the repercussions of war and siege by contributing to humanitarian work within it.

One of the Syrian artistic groups performed music from the Syrian heritage, and a number of paintings and pictures of Syrian history and its antiquities were displayed, in addition to allocating spaces for children to practice some recreational and social activities to enhance their communication with their countrymen in the Diaspora.

This day also included an exchange of ideas and opinions on various issues of Diaspora affairs and the agenda of future Syrian cultural and social activities, in addition to the latest political developments related to Syria, Europe, and the region.
