Syrian expatriates in Cuba affirm Russia’s right to defend its national security and stability
A delegation representing the Syrian community and students in Cuba visited the headquarters of the Russian Embassy in Havana where its members met the Russian Ambassador Andrei Guskov to express their support for Russia’s stance towards the situation in Ukraine.
The delegation stressed Russia’s right to defend itself and its people against the current US and western threats to its national security and stability.
On his part, the Russian ambassador thanked members of the delegation for their solidarity, pointing out that the Syrian people have also experienced war on their land and they are still suffering its tragic consequences.
He explained the situation that pushed Russia to launch a military operation in Ukraine, saying that the operation aims at preventing NATO expansion and protecting the Russian citizens in Donetsk and Luhansk. He ruled out any Russian intention to occupy Ukraine.
