Syrian expatriate Muhammed Essam Maho is the Director of UN Forum for the Promotion of Gender Equality
Dubai, (ST) – The Syrian expatriate Dr. Muhammad Essam Maho was chosen to manage the UN Forum “Promoting Gender Equality for a More Just Society”, which is one of the activities of the Sustainable Development Goals 2022 and is held annually in cooperation between the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the Union of Arab Creators and the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Committee.
During the forum, Dr. Maho did not miss the opportunity to talk about Damascus, describing it as the mother of civilization. He stressed that the reality and history of women in Syria testify that they were present in all aspects of life.
He pointed out that women have often outperformed men. “At a time when the countries of the world today celebrate simple roles in which they allow women to exercise some of their right to life, the Syrians celebrated Zenobia, a queen who ruled half of the ancient world BC.”
Dr. Maho indicated that the importance of this international forum stems from the fact that its recommendations will be submitted to the United Nations. He expressed his hope that this international forum would achieve a qualitative leap in respect of women’s rights internationally and in the Arab world.
The Head of the Arab Media Creators and Media Union, Dr. Ahmed Nour, spoke about the role and successes of Arab women and their inexhaustible impact in promoting the wheel of life in all its tracks.
The interlocutors in the forum sessions stressed the necessity of activating international resolutions, as this would enhance the role of women in political and social life and the importance of their right in education and to practice a normal life. They reviewed the experiences of different countries in enhancing the role of women in leading small and medium enterprises.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian expatriate, Dr. Muhammad Essam Maho, is the winner of the Dubai International Award for Human Resources Development, the educational Oscar 2021, for the category of the most popular and widely circulated educational video, which was titled “I am the creation of my mother”, the Arab Cup in Improvisation, organized by Toastmasters International in 2019, and the award for recitation at Beirut Arab University in 2016.
