Syrian-European Talks for Joint Cooperation to Ensure A Healthy Environment for Citizens in Syria

Acting Minister of Health Dr. Maher al-Sharaa discussed during his meeting today with the Director of the Middle East region at the Directorate General of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations “ECHO” Andreas Papaconstantinou and the accompanying delegation ways to enhance joint cooperation to contribute to the development of society and ensure a healthy environment for citizens in Syria.

The two sides discussed the reality of the health sector in Syria, its needs and requirements, as well as the most effective ways to meet the enormous humanitarian health needs in Syria.‏

Dr. Al-Sharaa pointed out that the health reality in Syria is very bad, and that the ministry has worked since the first day of liberation to restructure it, and developed a list of basic needs to promote this sector and build an integrated health system .‏

For his part, Papaconstantinou stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to provide more humanitarian assistance and support the needs of health programs, stressing the need to provide financial support to Syria from all countries in order to alleviate the current crisis and meet the needs of Syrians.
