Cairo (ST): On the sidelines of the Zayed Book Fair, which is currently being held in Egypt, a symposium was held under the title (Egyptian-Syrian Relations: Past, Present and Future), with the participation of Ambassador Dr. Bassam Darwish, head of the Syrian diplomatic mission to Egypt, and Egyptian writer and political analyst Osama Al-Dalil, and directed by Dr. Mohamed Sayed Ahmed, Professor of Political Sociology .
In his intervention, Dr. Sayed Ahmed stressed that the Egyptian-Syrian relations are rooted in history, as the two peoples shared many important historical events, tribulations and common victories, pointing out that in light of the current events, the relations remain distinct despite all attempts to confuse them.
Sayed Ahmed referred to Syria’s Arab role and its steadfastness in confronting the conspiracy that targeted it and Egypt and the entire Arab nation.
For his part, Dr. Al-Dalil said that the Egyptian-Syrian relationship is special and unique, pointing out that Syria and Egypt are exposed in the current circumstances to a conspiracy that serves the interests of the Israeli entity and other stalkers in the region.
He praised Syria’s steadfastness in the face of terrorism supported by the West and its affiliated countries, stressing that this steadfastness constituted a model for the peoples of the region.
Ambassador Darwish drew attention to the role of Egyptian thinkers and intellectuals in confronting the conspiracy against Syria, explaining that Syrian-Egyptian relations are deeply rooted in history and have remained coherent and embodied many times, as is the case in the October liberation war in which the blood of the two peoples mixed.
