DAMASCUS, (ST)- Member of the Economic Sciences Association, Dr. Munir Al Hamash, underlined the importance of mapping out a Syrian national model of development and reconstruction in the framework of a future vision includes achieving the goals of economic and social development in addition to other goals related to the rebuilding of society and treating the imbalance that has occurred in social relations and human values.
During his lecture entitled “national model for the development and reconstruction of the Syrian economy, from ordeal to the advancement and development. The Association organized recently a seminar in which Dr. Al Hamash indicated to the close interrelationship between economic growth and social justice as a condition to the effectiveness of sustainability, including contributing to the increase in real GDP, raising the standard of living citizen and securing their basic needs in addition to the environmental dimension of sustainability.
“The comprehensive and multi-dimensional developmental effort should go toward eliminating the backwardness of its different faces, and especially ignorance, poverty and unemployment as well as cultural and information backwardness and the technological gap. The developmental effort also should address the various sectors with economic, social and political dimensions as well as rebuilding the economic edifices, reconstruction of infrastructure, housing, implementation of health and social program that restores vital physical and psychological Syrian man,” Dr. Ai Hamash pointed out.
“Development is a national, historic and civilization issue that can be achieved only by self-reliance which requires the mobilization of the available resources in the community and to be directed towards the Development Goals,” he said.
Dr. Al Hamash pointed out that the fundamental role of the state is in planning and focus on the capabilities and capacities, national resources, human development, adjust the consumption and import and control of the surplus, the advancement of the scientific and technological capabilities and broad popular participation in decision-making and implementation, as well as to achieve equitable distribution of wealth, income, and establish economic relations with the world based on national interests.
Participants underlined the emergence of a number of imbalances in the production structures, human and natural resources as a result of the crisis in Syria, which are supposed realistic study to identify the points of weakness and strength, economic, social and humanitarian dimensions through a comprehensive dialogue determines the capable framework of mobilizing all efforts and societal forces in order to process comprehensive and sustainable development.
They also stressed the importance of finding real resources for reconstruction and achieve internal accumulation to all producing sectors and to provide added values with the involvement of civil society in the formulation of policies and internal control.
