Syrian doctors to give 60 lectures during the two-day “Wadi” Conference in Homs

HOMS, Aug.4, (ST)- The activities of the “Wadi” Conference for Syrian doctors at home and abroad were launched on Thursday, with the participation of a large number of doctors from America, France, Germany, Britain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia besides the participation of Syrian universities, in the Private Wadi International University in Wadi Al-Nadara area in Homs.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Bassam Ibrahim, stressed in his speech at the opening ceremony of the event that the conference is an opportunity for postgraduate students, master’s students and doctoral ones, to meet the doctors, who are living abroad, with the aim of supervising their theses, especially that the ministry is seeking to raise the quality of higher education and improve its quality and the quality of scientific research.

The Rector of the Wadi University, Bashir Elyas, pointed out that the Conference of the Syrian Doctors in the homeland and abroad has become an important annual tradition that the university celebrated because it constitutes a bridge of communication for distinguished Syrian doctors abroad with our doctors inside the country with the aim of creating a scientific and cognitive situation necessary to present the latest medical developments and the most recent scientific research in the scientist.

The Chairman of the Expatriates Committee, Fayez Bitar, stated that the conference was launched in 2004 and continued until 2011, but it had stopped during the period of the war on Syria for 7 years [From 2011 until 2019] .

“In 2020 and 2021, it was held online due to the outbreak of the Corona virus…Today this two-day conference continues with its scientific activities that includes over  60 medical lectures,” he clarified.
