Syrian doctors in Germany launch campaign to perform hundreds of surgeries in six Syrian provinces

The Shifaa Medical Campaign – Hand in Hand for Syria” will be launched by the Medical Office of Syrian Gathering in cooperation with the Association of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in Germany and in coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Health next Monday.

The campaign aims to perform hundreds of specialized surgeries for patients in Syria.

Dr. Muhammad Issam Zabad, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Syrian Doctors and Pharmacists in Germany, explained in a statement to “Al-Watan” newspaper that the campaign, which is also being held in cooperation with a group of relief organizations in Germany and the Independent Doctors’ Association (IDA), will involve more than 100 elite Syrian doctors in Germany, most of whom work as heads of department or consultants in various surgical and internal medicine specialties.

He pointed out that the doctors will be distributed across six Syrian governorates: Damascus, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Homs, Daraa, and Idlib, to perform hundreds of surgeries, in addition to organizing workshops in collaboration with their fellow doctors inside Syria.

He explained that as for the remaining governorates, there will be coordination with the Ministry of Health to transfer patients to the governorates where the doctors participating in the campaign are working, to provide them with the necessary medical assistance or surgical interventions.

He said, “this campaign is the first, and will be followed by several subsequent campaigns that will be organized across all Syrian governorates and regions.”
