Syrian Detainee Sidqi al-Maqt Defies Occupation Authorities over Their Support to Terrorists

QUNEITRA – The Syrian detainee Sidqi al-Maqt affirmed his adherence to his legal and national right of exposing the close relation between the Zionist occupation authorities and the armed terrorist groups such as Jabaht al-Nusra.

According to SANA, al-Maqt, a resident and freedom-fighter in the occupied Syrian Golan, is a long-time prisoner in Israeli jails. He was re-detained by the Israeli authorities on February 25th, 2015, after he had already spent 27 years in Israeli prisons and was released in August 2012.

In a letter sent from inside al-Jalboua prison in north of occupied Palestine, al-Maqt defied the Israeli occupation government and its media to dare to publish all the details of the case of his unjust and politicized detention, including the confidential reports and recordings of calls in their possession.

He added that he was sure that the so-called “central court in al-Nasira” would rule an unfair verdict against him with the aim of “preventing me from telling the truth and punishing me for exposing the support provided by the Israeli occupation authorities to the gangs of terrorism and criminality in Syria.”

Al-Maqt highlighted the occupation authorities’ involvement in the shedding of the Syrians’ blood and the destruction of infrastructure and national economy to weaken the components of the Syrian state, stressing that he will insist on exposing the facts and telling the truth even if it would cost him his life.

He saluted the Syrian people, army and leadership, expressing hope that the occupied Golan will be fully liberated and all Israel’s mercenary terrorists, agents and traitors will be completely eliminated.

Israel continues to impose hostile and aggressive measures against the Syrian citizens in the Golan, occupied since 1967, in clear violation of the Geneva (IV) Convention relating to the protection of civilians under occupation.
