Syrian Delegation Participates in a Meeting on Sustainable Development Issues

Moscow – A delegation from the People’s Assembly participated in the meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development held at the Asian Parliamentary Association’s (APA) headquarters in Narayan Mar, Russia.

During the meeting, the participants discussed issues related to sustainable development 2015-2030, mechanisms to overcome the obstacles that affect the peoples and countries of West Asian countries, issues of poverty, environment, water resources, green energy and finance affairs.

In his speech during the meeting, the head of the Syrian delegation, Elias Murad, pointed to the role of parliaments in bringing together relations between peoples and pressure on governments to take positions in line with their interests, stressing the importance of uncovering countries supporting terrorism.

Mr. Murad pointed out that the Takfiri terrorism that Syria is facing is supported by the Zionist occupation entity which is working to steal the water and economic resources of the occupied Syrian Golan as well as its racist practices against the Palestinian people.

He called on the Syrian government to launch the first report on sustainable development in order to reach the best formulas for rebuilding Syria despite the circumstances that have passed, calling on all countries to shoulder their moral responsibilities to support Syria and lift the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

The delegation of the People’s Assembly participated in the meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development, which was attended by representatives of the 19 parliaments of the Asian State.
