The Syrian cooking team in Asia, which comprises 10 young chefs, won a number of awards in the 3rd Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia 2024, which was recently held in Malaysia under the title “Chefs Challenge” under the supervision of the World Chef Organization.
Within the framework of the results of the competition, the Syrian cooking team won the gold medal in judging, the gold medal in desserts, the gold medal in some traditional dishes, and five bronze medals in a number of traditional dishes, in addition to diplomas for the participants.
“We participated in the 3rd Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia 2024 with a Syrian team consisting of 10 young chefs from various Syrian governorates. Each chef presented a traditional dish from the rich Syrian cuisine in addition to Syrian sweets”, according to Master Chef and international judge Muhammad Hanourah, the Syrian team’s supervisor and coach, said in a statement to SANA.
Hanourah, the supervisor of the team, which includes about 40 Syrian chefs working in Malaysia and 10 of who have participated in the competition, stressed that the Syrian presence was distinguished at the competition in terms of the diversity of dishes, despite the fact that all team members are having their first experience in such international competitions, indicating that the results were satisfactory.
The judge pointed out that the Syrian culinary team in Asia will participate on the 8th of next month in another international cooking competition in Malaysia.
He stressed that the team is strongly present to represent Syrian cuisine, and to raise its country’s flag high in international forums, by constantly striving to develop the Syrian chef and make him achieve advanced places and win first places at international competitions.
In turn, the young chef Mustafa Tlabi from Damascus Governorate, who won the gold medal in the oriental sweets category, expressed his pride in representing his country, Syria, and presenting ancient Syrian traditional sweets in such an international competition.
The young chef Muhammad Tayfour from Aleppo Governorate presented the innovative Syrian traditional dish, “Shish Barak with Cherry Sauce,” for which he won a bronze medal.
Young chef Samer Kahil from Damascus Governorate also presented the “Jumbo Brown with Kunafa” dish, for which he also won a bronze medal. The bronze medal went to the young chef Mustafa Nimrat from Aleppo Governorate for the traditional dish “eggplant mnazala,” expressing his happiness for participating for the first time at an international competition and winning a prize in it.
The young chef Yassin Al-Zoubi from Daraa Governorate won the bronze medal for the traditional dish “Mansaf Al-Malihi,” and the young chef Hashem Hanoura from Aleppo Governorate won the bronze medal for the traditional dish “Ouzi with Meat.”
