Syrian consulate in Cairo marks Martyrs’ Day

The Syrian Consulate in Cairo in cooperation with the Syrian Students Union and the Syrian community held an activity on Friday to mark the anniversary of Martyrs’ Day.

During the activity, the Syrian consular Riad Snih stressed that all the invaders who came to Syria were defeated throughout history.

“In 1916, the cutthroat Ottoman governor set up gallows to hang the freedom, independence and dignity of Syria,” the consular said, indicating that those who have not learnt from the lessons of history send terrorists to attack Syria.

“The Syrian soldiers pays the price for the salvation of all humanity from terrorism,” he affirmed.

On her part, Dalia al-Mehrez gave a speech on behalf of the Syrian students in Egypt. She said that Syria will achieve victory over terrorism.

The same statement [Syria will achieve victory over terrorism] was repeated by the other speakers, who talked about the Zionist attack that targets the Arab region.

On May 6th, 1916, the Ottoman’s ruler Jamal Basha, well-known as al-Saffah [cutthroat] executed 21 Syrian politicians and intellectuals in al-Marjeh square in Damascus and in al-Horeyyeh square in Beirut because they were seeking for Arab countries’ independence from Ottoman colonialist.
