Syrian Communist party anniversary:

 Attar: Continuous Steadfastness Until Victory Achieved

DAMASCUS, (ST) _ The Syrian Unified Communist Party held yesterday evening a reception, marking its 90th foundation anniversary, in the presence of Vice President Dr. Najah al-Attar.

In a speech, the party secretary general Hunein Nimr highlighted the struggle of the party since its inception in the face of colonialism and Zionism and in support of the Palestinian issue, stressing that Syria‘s people, army and leadership solidarity, in collaboration with its friends will enable the establishment of a pluralistic democratic society, solving problems pertinent to social living conditions that plague citizens and proceed to the establishment of a national economy.

 He indicated that the black reactionary terrorism which targets Syria is the new Zionism itself disguised in a fake religious appearance, supported by the colonial West and the US in order to punish Syria for supporting national resistance in Lebanon and Palestine.”

In a statement on the sidelines of the ceremony, Vice President Dr. Najah al-Attar stressed that the current situation requires maintaining solidarity and following up the struggle with the Syrian army to achieve peace and security and build what was destroyed takfirists, adding that patience and steadfastness will continue until victory, security and stability are restored back to the homeland.

Attar pointed to the role played by the progressive parties in Syria for their country and for the independence of Palestine through long years of struggle, manifested in solidarity maintained among parties of the national progressive front, pointing out that Syria fought not only for her independence, but also for the independence of all Arab countries.

For his part, member of the Baath party national leadership Shaaban Azzouz noted the Syrian united Communist Party record of national achievements, pointing to the important role played by national parties in strengthening inter- national unity dialogue.

The ceremony was attended by several cabinet ministers, several secretaries of the parties of the National Progressive Front, national parties, members of the People’s Assembly and other officials concerned.
