Damascus (ST): The Syrian cinema has won three awards at the 37th Alexandria Film Festival, which concluded its activities last night.
The winning films produced by the General Organization for Cinema and the General Organization for Radio and Television Production were distributed in the Nour Al Sharif Arab Film Competition, where the feature film “The Last Breakfast,” written and directed by Abdel Latif Abdel Hamid, won the Wahid Hamed Award for Best Screenplay, while the film “Al Mutran” (Bishop) by director Basil Al Khatib won Special Jury Prize.
In the acting awards, the actor Ahmed Al-Ahmad won the Ahmed Zaki Award for Best Actor for his movie “The Back to the Wall”, written and directed by Aws Mohamed.
The great artist Duraid Laham was also awarded the Order of the Bride of the Mediterranean within the activities of the 37th Alexandria International Film Festival in appreciation of his role in the Arab cinematic movement and for placing Syrian cinema in a distinguished position among its peers in the Arab region.
The current session of the Alexandria Festival celebrated Syrian cinema, in which 5 films participated in their various competitions with their world premiere.
It is noteworthy that the activities of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries were launched under the chairmanship of Amir Abaza from the 25th to the 30th of this month, which bore the name of the great director Ali Badrakhan.
