Syrian champion Azzam wins gold in Serbia Karate Championship

Sofia – Syrian champion Osama Azzam won Serbia Karate Championship, gaining a gold medal for individual fighting, an achievement to be added to his rich record.

Azzam said that Serbia’s rejection to grant entry visas to the Syrian team to participate in the championship encouraged him to continue training and participate in it individually in the first place and as an international athlete and coach in the second place as well as to stress that the Syrian citizenship will remain present in the crowning platforms despite all attempts to prevent the Syrians from participation, SANA reported.

Azzam, born in 1962 lives in Bulgaria nowadays, has won several gold, silver and bronze medals in international championships, including a gold in International Karate Championship in Turkey last April.

He, also, won the silver medal in Individual Kata at the ITKF World Championships in Poland in 2014.He ranked the second in World Karate Championship in Serbia in 2013 and he also earned the bronze medal in 2012 Bulgaria Championship.
