Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil wins special prize in the 45th International Bugia Cartoon Contest/Italy 2021

Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil won a special prize in the 45th International Bugia Cartoon Contest/Italy 2021 whose theme for this year is “Happens along the Way”.

 192 cartoonists from 41 countries took part in this event displaying 400 cartoons.

Khalil’s work depicts travelling and the state of waiting in the stations of life in an ironic and critical manner. It shows the artist’s role in drawing reality.

According to Khalil, winning international prizes enhances the artist’s constant pursuit for art, culture and innovation through continuous work and through enriching knowledge and exchanging artistic skills with other artists.

 Cartoonist Raed Khalil was born in 1973. His works are regularly published in the local Al-Baath Newspaper and the Syrian TV. He took part in many international exhibitions and won many prizes and certificates of appreciation. He is the supervisor of the Syrian caricature website and director of Syria’s International Caricature Festival since 2005.
