Aleppo, (ST) – A delegation represents Syrian industrialists and businessmen will participate in the biennial Philippine International Food Products Exhibition, which opens on May 19.
“Ahmad Ajameyeh,a participant in the exhibition said that the Syrian participation in the exhibition, which is one of the most important exhibitions in Asia and characterized by the wide participation of food companies in its activities, is a step to consolidate relations between the two countries. The event, he added, is an opportunity to explore new markets, whether for import or export activities.
He pointed out that Syria and its agricultural, industrial and commercial skills and capabilities can achieve an effective presence in international fairs and markets, which will positively affect the national economy.
For his part, the Honorary Consul of the Philippines in Aleppo, Waseem Nana’a, explained that this exhibition is considered one of the most important specialized exhibitions in Asia, starting with the fact that the Philippines is one of the first countries in the export of agricultural materials industries.
“Since its inception in 1999, the exhibition has witnessed extensive participation in its successive sessions. Companies working in the food industry from more than 20 countries took part in the previous session of the exhibition. The exhibition is considered an important gateway for participating companies to reach more markets and direct contact with the largest and most important importers and workers in this area and displaying new products” Mr. Nana’a added.
Concerning the participation of a delegation of Syrian businessmen in the exhibition, the Consul said that in the framework of the endeavor to strengthen and develop the joint relations between the two friendly countries and open wider areas for joint action, some 10 Syrian businessmen from the Aleppo Governorate working in the industrial domain and food industries were invited by the Philippines side to attend the exhibition.
He pointed out that the Syrian businessmen will visit the exhibition and meet with the participants and this would open wide areas of joint work in the future, especially that the population of the Philippines is more than 100 million people and it can be a promising market for Syrian exporters, especially in citrus.
The three-day exhibition includes pavilions to showcase various food products such as vegetables, fruits, seafood, fish, meat, various foodstuffs and food industries.
