Syrian-Belarusian Talks on Cooperation in the Reconstruction era

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Minister of Public Works Hussein Arnous and the Belarusian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev  yesterday discussed cooperation in the area of reconstruction and building in Syria.

Arnous stressed it is important to establish partnerships with Belarus in the field of building and related stuff including building materials plus modern equipments and machinery and to benefit from the Belarusian expertise in the reconstruction process in Syria. He said new prospects can be opened through signing a memorandum of understanding that frames the future cooperation.

Arnous pointed out that the reconstruction era necessitates that the ministry ensures the required equipments and machines to implement projects in several sectors including building, roads, bridges, water and electricity. The ministry also faces the challenge of compensating the loss of 400 machines due to terrorist attacks, he said, referring to the possibility of benefiting from the technical development in Belarus in the domain of manufacturing building machines and equipments.

On his part, Ambassador Ponomarev asserted his country’s keenness on enhancing bilateral ties between Syria and Belarus in different sectors, pointing out that he will inform concerned companies in his country about the promising investment opportunities in the domain of building in Syria as to encourage them to enter the Syrian markets, contribute to the reconstruction process and to convey their expertise in manufacturing building equipments to the Syrian side.
