Syrian-Belarusian Center for Scientific and technical cooperation opened in Homs.

HOMS –(ST) The Syrian Belarusian Center  for Scientific and Technical Cooperation” was opened yesterday  at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Al-Baath University in Homs.

Higher Education Minister  Dr. Mohammed Amer Mardini, confirmed that establishing the  Center will enhance Syria-Belarus relations,  particularly in higher education field.

 Ambassador of Belarus in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev expressed his happiness over re-activating such agreements signed  with al-Baath University before the war waged on Syria ,stressing on  the importance of  cooperation between the two countries in this field.

 “Opening this center is a message to the international community stressing that life continues in Syria whatever the circumstances, Ponomarev clarified.

Dr. Essam Melhem, chairman of  Syrian Belarusian Center  presented a view of the center’s future work and its aims, including scientific cooperation agreements, exchange scientific information  publications  ,researches, and exchange visiting of professors and students.

Chairman of the Syrian Belarusian Business Council , Inayatallah Hassoun affirmed on the Belarusian friendly stance  with Syria in its war against terrorism, pointing out that the that opening the center is  a message to those who are trying to destroy Syria’s saying that “by knowledge and education we will fight terrorism and foil your conspiracies”.

The opening  ceremony was attended by the members of leadership of the Al-Baath University branch of the Baath Party , professors, deans, and a number of students.
