Syrian basketball reverts to its former glory, says Syria’s ambassador in Tehran

Tehran, (ST) – Syria’s ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dioub, considered that hopes are pinned on the Syrian basketball team to perform and achieve a good result in the World Cup qualifiers.

During his meeting on Wednesday with the delegation of the Syrian basketball team at its residence in the Persian Azadi Hotel in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Ambassador Dioub said that the Syrian basketball has begun to return to its glory. He pointed out that sport is a comprehensive national situation and we all have to support and develop it.

 The Syrian team head coach , Iyad El Sebaei, said that,the team entered the final preparatory phase of preparations through friendly matches with the teams presented in the Iranian league, the latest of which will be next Saturday with the Iranian team.

He indicated that what distinguishes the Syrian players in addition to the technical factor is high morale and the strong will to achieve positive results in the qualifiers.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian basketball team has been undergoing a closed training camp in Tehran since the ninth of this month in preparation for meeting the Kazakhstan team in the World Cup qualifiers in Nur-Sultan on the twenty-sixth of this month, and to meet it again at Al-Fayhaa Hall in Damascus on the twenty-ninth.
