DAMASCUS, (ST) – After winning the top award of the Arab Film Contest at Al-Dakhla Film Festival in Morocco, Syrian Film “Mariam” is to kick off its shows in Damascus at the Cinema City hall on March 20th.
The feature film, which is directed and co-written by prominent Syrian filmmaker Basel al-Khateib, tells the story of three women, each named Mariam, living in different periods of war time. They experience the different aspects of war, but never lose their right to choose and be ready to sacrifice.
Starring in the film are senior Syrian drama actors like As’ad Feddah, Sulaf Fawakherji, Abed Fahd, Dima Qandaleft, Sabah al-Jazaeri. Lama al-Hakeem, Maysoon Abou Sa’d, Nadeen, Jihad Sa’d and Farouk al-Jum’at.
Produced by the General Cinema Establishment in cooperation with Jawa Production Company, the film was able to win top prize in Morocco after a strong competition with 12 Arab films from Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia.
