Syrian athletes participate in the 19th Asian Games in China

Syrian athletes will participate in the 9th Asian Games, which will be held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou on September 20th, in five games: equestrian, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, and athletics.

During the technical and administrative meeting of the tournament, which was attended by the General Administrator of the Mission, Muhammad Al-Hayek, and the representative of the Olympic Committee, Bashir Abboud, the names of the participating Syrian athletes were confirmed and they are among 12,500 male and female athletes competing in forty sports.

Majd Al-Din Ghazal and his coach Muhammad Mulla Khalaf will participate inathletics, Maan Asaad and his coach Qais Asaad in weightlifting, Ahmed Ghosun and Muhammad Melis and the coaches Hussein Ghosun and Muhammad Ghosun in boxing, Omar Sarem and Yanal Barazi and the coach Firas al-Rifai in wrestling, and riders Ahmed Hamsho and Amr Hamsho in equestrian sport.

 Our athletes have completed their preparations through internal and external camps, and their ambition is to ascend to the podium and win various medals to be added to enrich Syrian sports.

This is Syria’s eleventh participation in the Asian Games, the last of which was the eighteenth Asian Games in Indonesia in 2018, and player Majd al-Din Ghazal was able to win the bronze medal in the high jumping competition.
