Syrian athletes organize march of love in support of presidential elections

With the participation of about 7,000 athletes from all governorates, the General Sports Federation today held the march of love to support the presidential elections.

All the executive committees of all sports and clubs participated in the march, carrying Syrian flags. The march began from Al-Jalaa Sports City on Mazzeh highway and reached the Umayyad Square in the center of Damascus.

 

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, confirmed that about 7 thousand athletes from all governoratestook part in the march to express their support for the presidential elections. They affirm their insistence that Syria remains the decision maker and that its victory is credited with many martyrs.

A number of participating athletes asserted in their statements that the presidential elections are an embodiment of the independence of the national decision, and participating in it is a national duty for every Syrian.

In turn, head of the Executive Committee of Homs branch, Faisal Derby noted that the participation of all sport clubs of Homs in the march affirm their support to presidential elections and that the Syrian people have the right to decide the fate of their homeland and determine its president.

The wounded athlete, Hassan Abdan, head of the technical committee for special sports in Homs governorate, confirmed that his injury, which led to paralysis in his lower limbs, did not prevent him from participating in the march. He noted that his participation conveys a message that the wounded who performed his task in the battlefields completes his message today by participating in the elections that represent the independence of the sovereign decision.

Participants indicated that their march proves to the world that the Syrian people complete the victory of their heroic army by participating in the presidential elections and that they are the decision makers.
