Syrian Athlete Yazan Saleh breaks Guinness world record for squat exercise

Syrian Athlete Yazan Saleh has achieved a new Guinness world record for the squat exercise by performing 222 repetitions within 2 minutes and 59 seconds. The new achievement breaks the official world record, which is 206 repetitions within 3 minutes, achieved by the Egyptian Ali Mounir.

Saleh’s attempt was conducted inside the premises of Tishreen University in Lattakia on Tuesday in front of a committee accredited by the Guinness Book of Records.

In a statement, Saleh said that he was able to break the past world record after intensive exercises, stressing that this achievement will be an incentive for achieving more gains that suit the abilities and fitness he acquired through playing various sports.

“I have been preparing for years. This is not the effort of a day or two. I thank God that the record was broken today,” Saleh clarified.

In a previous attempt, Saleh broke a world record by pulling a 3-tonne car for over 100 meters within less than 1 minute and 30 seconds.
