Damascus, (ST) – The Syrian Astronomical Society called on amateur astronomers to participate in the observation event of the partial solar eclipse, which will be organized by the Society tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
In a statement to SANA, the Head of the Society’s Board of Directors, Dr. Muhammad Al-Asiri, explained that the Astronomical Society has prepared the appropriate scientific and technical means to safely monitor the eclipse, which will start at (12:56 minutes and 2 seconds) and continue until (3:22:40) in the afternoon, Damascus time. It peaks at the hour (2, 11 minutes and 12 seconds), and the highest percentage of the sun’s disk locally is 48 percent.
Tomorrow, the Earth will witness a partial solar eclipse that will be visible in parts of Europe, western Asia and northeastern Africa, and will not be visible in other parts of the world.
Al-Asiri pointed out that the eclipse is a beautiful and simple astronomical phenomenon that the world awaits and is waiting to watch, and there is no need to be afraid of it, as it can be viewed using safe techniques.
