Syrian artist to ST: love and art make life brighter

The exhibition of Syrian fine artist lina Deeb opened at the National Visual Arts Center in Damascus two days ago, in the presence of a group of artists and journalists.

The exhibition included more than 50 paintings reflecting her experience in various stages in the fields of engraving and photography.

In a statement to Syria time’s e-newspaper, Deeb said: “The exhibition reflects my experience in the art of engraving and photography”

“I was working on completing my exhibits during the period of lockdown imposed in the country due to  Coronavirus crisis, and here I want to send a message that a person, no matter what his circumstances are, is still able to be creative and active” she added.

“I expressed my own vision about my inner feelings. My themes emerge from local history and civilization because our country is rich in tales and legends…Actually, I draw my point of view…I paint ancient things in a modern and simple style.”

Deeb believes that artist sees with his eye, but the image is imprinted on his mind, and he re-formulates it in his/her own way.

Her journey as an artist began with painting realistic things, looking deep into life, man and the past. “Love and art make life brighter,” she asserted.

It is worth mentioning that Deeb holds a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Damascus. She is lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at Tishreen University.
